find out more about hill tribes

There are a few things to remember when trekking in the hills of Northern Thailand and visiting hilltribe villages. To make your visit more enjoyable and for the benefit of the people visiting after you, here are a few things to remember.

1. Hilltribe people are mostly rather modest, so please don’t wear revealing clothes. Shorts are fine, but not too short.
2. Showing affection for a person in public is not part of hilltribe culture so please behave modestly.
3. Please ask for permission before you take someone’s photo.
4. If you come across any items that might be of cultural or religious significance please don’t touch. I
5. Don’t walk over or too near to any food placed on the floor. The same goes for people, you shouldn’t step over anyone laying on the ground or even over their legs.

Herb and the nature food

Thursday, June 7th, 2007

In the mountain there are some herbs which the tribes use to improve sex ability. Once is a small tree  grow on the trunk of the other trees .It can find at the height of about 1000m and is always deep in the mountain .We will use  its trunk to cook in the water .The taste is bitter .

Another type is the root of a small plant .We cook it with water until it become sticky

The big spider in the forest is also our favourite food as well

The nature of Chiangmai :The tradition karen at Thailand Chiangmai.

In the remote villages, houses are made of Pine tree or bamboo and are usually on stilts, the space underneath being used for animals (buffalo, pigs, chickens). There is no electricity in these villages. Toilets are minimal, and situated in a separate outbuilding with no septic tanks. Water is available from the river for washing the body and clothes.
The Karen people have few possessions, and usually sleep on mats on the floor. Cooking is over an open fire on earth or the wooden floors of the house. Occasionally, a wooden frame is built to store equipment. There is generally no furniture.
Some villages closer to the towns have access to running water and electricity, and some houses in these villages are built from more modern materials.
